About Full-Time Civilian Bargaining Unit CHAPPS

Full-Time Civilian Bargaining Unit CHAPPS is a system designed for full-time civilian employees who are part of a bargaining unit. These employees work 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, within a 24/7 system.

How It Works

In this system, four employees are required to cover two 7-day bids and one 6-day bid, for a total of 160 hours per week. This arrangement is known as the Four-in-a-Box pay system. To make this possible, there must be four full-time employees available to cover the four 40-hour bids. Under Full-Time Civilian Bargaining Unit CHAPPS, each employee needs to work for 1 week and then have 3 weeks and 1 day off within a 1-week period. They must work within one of the three different pay locations. This scheduling structure allows the organization to maintain continuous operations while ensuring that each employee has enough time off for rest and personal needs.
